[Greater Toronto Area] closings of 2025

OMG! Just 6 days ago, Jawny Baker’s was still posting on their Insta page and being reviewed on Yelp. That was the only restaurant on that corner that ever succeeded. Even Fratelli had to close their doors rather than go up against them. In fact, when the people opening the Victorian Monkey (closed only because of a hell-spawn neighbour) were doing their research, they studied Jawny’s as the top model of success in the east end. I sincerely hope the owners are well and the staff find new jobs. It may not have been my cup of tea, but Jawny Baker’s served the residents very well.

I wonder if the site will be cleared for a condo, like Whistler’s was.

I already checked for a real estate listing. Nadda. I’d guess 4 years of road construction at St Clair & O’Connor would do it. Add the never-to-open Eglinton LRT not seconds from there and you have a situation that would crush any business owner. Quite frankly, I’d call Doug Ford first and then my lawyer. The City is beyond responsible and irresponsible. I would say more, but it’s not for a G-rated audience.

If they could sue the province and Drug Ford, I’m sure lawyers would have knocked on their doors ages ago.
“For the greater good “ :man_shrugging:t2:

The City of Toronto is at fault for the St Clair / O’Connor debacle. The LRT construction started during the Dalton McGuinty years. I’m not sure what your point is.

Might as well start at the top.

Ford has been known to use his Bully Pulpit for good. This would be that time. When you can knock down a stalwart business, the rest are just teetering dominoes.

He uses his pulpit to enrich himself and his buddies, but one can only dream
