Other than the observe/don’t observe question, which isn’t central to the joke and may be a bit political, the main joke itself is basically a funny way of relating the facts of the journey.
But given he was hoping to find a Western route to India, I’d re-write the meme as
- Get lost in an Indian grocery store looking for spices?
