“Rocket surgery” might be easier. ( I am reminded of a conversation with a bunch of doctors where on implied surgery of the bones was more important than medicine of the mind. )

While for me the solution might be “throw more money at it”, I imagine this scenario touches on a lot of “baggage” for many involved.
I dread these moments, but added to the whole thing is that one often feels compelled to attend. I do think electronic payments make it a bit less complicated, at least in crowds younger than me.
ETA Most places I’ve been don’t allow separate checks larger than a given party size, maybe 6, and they add a gratuity.
Well it’s hard to argue the importance of one branch of medicine over another–I’m sure the determination depends on the patient ![]()

That’s true; I surely wouldn’t. I should have said it seems to me that human behavior is way more complicated than building rockets.
Certainly way less predictable.
