Trader Joe's YEA/NAY/MEH, 2023 Edition

YAY to the now-gone-for-the-season pumpkin waffle & pancake mix. My sister made waffles from the mix when we visited her & the family over Thanksgiving, and they weren’t too sweet or spice-heavy.

Yes, a metal tube is inside the blue box

Yay! to the new (to us anyways) Roasted Red Peppers. Really enjoyed them on our flatbread.

Yay to the new chicken shawarma bowl. Could use a little more chicken in there, but good flavor and would buy again.

Nay to the hardwood smoked pulled chicken. Texture was fine, but zero flavor and not worth the price.

BOO! that my local TJs says they won’t be able to order the Kimbap again until February. :upside_down_face:

They used to have a pulled pork that I liked, but I haven’t seen it in a while. Too bad about this one.

There is actually a pulled pork version of this item, too. Based on the chicken, I’m hesitant to try it, but just so you know stores are carrying pulled pork right now.

Does anyone know what is up with the olive oil? Lately they only have one or two varieties (as opposed to the 5 or so they normally have), and my favorite is not one of the ones showing up.

I’m guessing it is because of the olive oil shortage in Europe. Drought conditions in Spain and some other countries this past year significantly reduced production. NYT had an article about the high prices of olive oil.

Was just at the Novato CA store and they had Harry and David comice pears for $9.99 for 2+ lb. box. I should have bought one!

I bought one; how do you know when to eat?

SSF had several.

I didn’t see any at my store, name? Where from? I’ve missed the one from Brittany but the salted New Zealand one (new) at Costco is great. (They have it in unsalted too)

at assembly square in somerville, ma. it’s the one from brittany, same as before,

It depends on how you like your pears. I like mine on the crisp side, but others like them softer and juicier. When a friend sent me a box as a Chanukah gift, I left them out on the counter and ate one every day. They got juicier as time passed. So good!
