I always find this version so strange. The song is about as dark as it gets, yet Bobby Darin turns it into a fluffy swing tune 
Me, too. I don’t get it. His interpretation is so stylistically inappropriate for the lyrics, even in English. It was strange even when it was released (when I was a little girl). I don’t think anyone had any knowledge of the context or origin of the song. It was a huge hit.
