Agree.
and the volume. Used often in baking when messing around with quantities. If someone would have told me that when I was in high school, I would have been more keen.
Are they gone yet? Or did they find another stash of Absolut?
RIP James Earl Jones. Such a fantastic actor and a fantastic legacy over his life.
Forget Star Wars, how about him in Field of Dreams? The Sandlot?
Or Conan the Barbarian as Thulsa Doom.
“Come to me, my child.”
The greatest voice in America. I remember seeing “The Great White Hope” as a kid (not in the theaters . . . I’m not that old) when he was a youngish man and I can hear the voices of Darth and Mufasa to this day.
Or, “This is CNN”.
I never knew that, but now that I listen again, it’s obvious. Kind of how like Dan Rather was the voice of all airports for 10+ years.
Just sorta background stuff,
Thank you.
Does anyone remember this one?
Okay, maybe not, but I do!

I was a Comp Sci major, so I had to keep up pure math classes through Diff Eq. That class broke me.
I was fine in grade school and through most of algebra. I excelled at geometry, trig, and basic calculus (anything to do with derivatives). I was ok at linear algebra (matrices, etc). Methods of integration was the first time I truly struggled at a Math class, because it was all about memorizing and recognizing forms of equations, and had very little to do with visualization. I choked on diff eq. for the same reason.
I understood the “Probability” parts of “Probability and Statistics”, but absolutely lost the thread on the “Statistics” part, which was much more about pure number manipulation.
As it happened, I used most of my math/physics education more or less daily as a computer graphic VFX and animation artist. Rendering equations are all about integrating illumination equations over a surface. I don’t use my chemistry a bunch, but maybe baking counts. ![]()
It was for us. But we don’t need a reason for a margarita ![]()
Hope you are safe @travelmad478 (and any other NO/Gulf Onions).
Thanks, we are fine! Prepped for the worst case but this really hasn’t been bad. We still have electricity, even [knocks wood].
Appliances are on my mind. Our washing machine sprung a low leak. Since I truly hate the front loader, it wasn’t a hard call to order a new one rather than attempt to repair. I also ordered a dryer because ours has some minor issues and is quite ancient. Costco will be delivering both on Monday. Later the same day that I placed the order, the dryer ceased to produce heat. Tumbles on cold. Took a whole day to dry the sheets that were already in process. Machine intelligence? House spirits? Coincidence?
Sympathy death of the dryer. Didn’t want to be left alone, or just doesn’t like when the new kids come in and show him up. ![]()
And while I just replaced my dishwasher and stove/oven this year, I’m still thinking about doing the same for my washer and dryer. Except I need the floor replaced in there first by my BIL (he did the half bath flooring last year, so it’s the same size). Will have to ask him about it.
For me, it happens in (3’s)…
Anything else getting old, dishwasher, oven, fridge, microwave??
All of them. Shit.
