Well, that’s a freaking relief after thinking I’d been eating crap for the last 74 years.
Two takeaways:
Fresh Welsh cake is better than packaged? Isn’t that true of any baked good in any country? Hmmm . . . a nice sponge cake from a local bakery or a Twinkie?
I like his attitude regarding being respectful and understanding individuals have, well, individual taste preferences.
Ok, a third takeaway–they have tacos in the UK???
They have tacos in the most unlikely places these days. I could have gotten tacos in several spots in Copenhagen, for example.
Well I guess who doesn’t like a good taco? And as long as you can source reasonable ingredients . . .
Even in the darkest backwaters of northwest England. So ubiquitous, that places now do their own take on the taco, as in this link. Not that I’ve ever tried them - I’ve eaten them in the States and am just not keen on them.

Some of those look better than others, but I’d definitely stop at Pancho’s. I do tend more towards quesadillas or fajitas. But taco Tuesday has become such a thing they’re hard to avoid.
Agreed. Thats the only one that passes for a taco other than in name.
Where’s the “I’m ashamed” emoji. On behalf of
I apologize. Note: I don’t care how many TikTok followers he has, I’m not inclined to lend credence to a guy in a backwards adjustable baseball cap and a quasi-neckbeard. Call me old and cranky. Go ahead. Because I am.
I’m guessing he was at The Bearded Taco in Cardiff Market. I can attest that their tacos are actually pretty good and stand up well to others I’ve tried in New York and Mexico. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/whats-on/food-drink-news/husband-wife-wowing-customers-stunning-26128424
Of course they have tacos in the UK. Brits sometimes pronounce tacos in a funny way. ![]()
Although I have only visited Wales for 4 days, I tried at least 4 different Welsh cakes during my stay, including some that were a commercial baked Welsh cake. Some are much better than others, of course! Like anything else. ![]()
You haven’t met the right taco. Could involve more trial and error than you’re willing to take on.
I have sung Karaoke at a TexMex bar in St Anton, Austria, but I didn’t try the tacos or nachos!
Tacos are everywhere.
I’ve not met a Welsh cake that I’ve not enjoyed.
Like Elvis.
