Did you ever try?
Yes, I think so – but I’m not 100% sure. (so I didn’t want to call them out for it)
No. I used to be able to pack away a lot of pizza, but I knew there was no way I could manage it, even with a friend with a ginormous appetite.
They were probably closer to 18-20", but I remember eating an entire one with all the toppings at the Four Gs in Wildwood, New Jersey, seemingly the perfect way to unwind after a day in the surf and sun. That last slice was hard work.
As much as I find the dipping thing to be against my core beliefs….. this may just be something to try next time I’m stuck with my 6 year-old grandson’s Domino’s plain cheese or pepperoni. Worth a try I guess. It’s definitely gonna be better than that stuff plain.
It is odd to me that those large chain pizzas are at their worst as plain cheese or cheese and pepperoni, but truly good pizza is often at its best with minimal or no toppings. It’s rather like very good ice cream, at its best as simple vanilla.
I think this would be a blast with kids. When I am with my nephew, I am always trying to get him to explore new/weird/interesting flavors. He is too picky right now haha.
The lack of quality really shines through when there’s nothing to cover it up.

But when you order a “supreme” pizza or one with everything on it, does more shit eventually give you better shit?
I feel like a plain pizza at a place like Dominos minimizes the misery factor.
a few years and the question will inevitably “do you double dip?”…
It does, for me. An everything slice almost has flavor!
I often dip the crusts into extra marinara sauce. But that’s the extent of it.
Jeez I’m tired of seeing plain cheese , or cheese/roni. I don’t know many kids that like any vegetation on their pizza. I need: onion, peppers, mushrooms, black olives. I like green olives on there, too, but Mrs. Badger does not.
You just described Sunshine’s DREAM pizza!!
We had an Onion & Pepper pizza this past Saturday and if I had mushrooms and black olives in stock, they would have been on that pizza!!
I don’t care for meat on my pizza at all, even the bestest prosciutto. Meh. Gimme shrooms, onions, green peppers, and I’m a happy camper. A good pizza shouldn’t need more than 3 toppings at the most. Or a dip
>ducks<
So….. this is migrating to ‘what you like on your pizza’? We’re fans of sliced tomatoes, artichokes, and basil. Pretty simple.
I think that deserves its own thread, don’t you?
If I have to eat a crappy slice, veg is by far my favorite. However, not even vegetables can rescue Little Caesars. The mushrooms are canned
.
Really good pizza? Less is more.
My bad….. I guess. But things seemed to have gone there a few posts prior.
