Four days before the holiday (barely) and my brother has suggested we all have dinner together. So now I have to figure out the whole menu between now and Sunday.
All the nice hams are spoken for at this point so my protein choice is prob going to be unconventional.

Maryland lump crab is freshly avail for the season, however, and the price is way way way down from recent years. I might do a crab cake app (she eats crab) and figure the rest out.
Sounds delicious! I would say “why is this your problem, not your brother’s?” but I know, like many / most / all of us here, food is how you love people. Me too.
I shouldn’t be so flip. They were willing to host (and therefore cook) but it’s easier for mom if they come here, rather than the other way around.
And to be brutally honest, I would rather do the cooking. I would characterize my entire self-directed culinary journey as a deeply selfish long game to eat food I like, rather than tolerate what other people make.
Alright, I am the proud owner of an entire beef tenderloin. I didn’t plan to buy the whole thing, but my butcher advised that it was $10/more PER POUND to have a portion of it vs the whole thing, so here we are.
I had a bit of one end lopped off and vacuum-sealed, at her suggestion, and I’ll freeze that for later. The rest will be salted to dry-age in the fridge, then tied up and slow-roasted a la Kenji:
Man. Even with the title of this very thread, Passover somehow didn’t even enter my brain this year. I actually like matzoh, and usually make a point to pick some up around this time for snacking, but I haven’t yet.
Might need to pick up a box when I hit the grocery store today.
