Wow. 10 years! It is amazing that Hungry Onion has been around for that long already. Thank you, the entire HO community, for passionately arguing for 10 years about every tiny detail around eating and food. You all make up this wonderful community. The community doesn’t exist without you taking the time to discuss your latest eating and cooking adventures! Thank you!
Some interesting tidbits about Hungry Onion:
It has 4502 dedicated members, and countless readers.
Our largest user groups is 25-34 years old, followed closely by 35-44 years old.
California is more than 10% of the site traffic. Other notables are: New York (6%), Virginia (4%), Canada (6%), Texas (3%), Massachusetts (3%), England (3%), Singapore (5.5%), Malaysia (5.4%).
54% of users access the site via mobile. 44% desktop.
For the technophiles, and a bit surprising to me, the most common screen resolution used to access the site is, 3840x2160, a 4K screen.
I’m unsurprised by the 4K screens. IMac’s and other “all in one” desktop designs have had 4K screens as standard for well over a decade, and now all but the very lowest end tablets and phones have 4k screens.
Soooo…I just had to do it. Used an Excel spreadsheet and searched for all wfd tags. I found that #96 wasn’t tagged, so I added that. Also found that I skipped using label #97, which should have been September 2023, but went right to #98 for that month.
But in adding ALL of the WFD replies, based on the replies in this search view of all wfd tags:
and NOT including the current month of September 2025, there have been 76,698 replies to the WFD threads. (Including Sept '25, we’re at 77,078 so far.)
And I’m just that type of person who needs things to be right and who might go back and relabel from 97 on. @hungryonion , that won’t screw up anyone’s bookmarks or anything else, will it?
Happy Birthday / Happy Anniversary to Hungry Onion!
Much gratitude to @hungryonion for the creation of and continuing efforts to maintain the site.
Many thanks also to all the volunteers, some who moderate different parts of the space, some who shepherd ongoing topics and themes to build and maintain momentum and encourage participation, and to all the folks who make it a positive community with interesting discussions and constructive debates.
I remembered I posted on Top Chef so that limited the scrolling. I searched Top Chef filtered for posted by me. I thought I remembered a date joined with my profile but couldn’t find it.
