Spelling Bee Thread — that is totally a (food) word!

Teach me this all consonant word. Although an all vowel one would probably be even more useful.

Qgp

I play solo challenge on WWF every week and this word started popping up recently.

:frowning:

Words with friends takes it.

So I see - I guess they’re looser, 'cause acronyms are not allowed in Scrabble (or Spelling Bee) as far as I know.

OK, I think today’s hints/solution are f’d. Same clue for two words, when it quite obviously only has ONE solution.

There goes my Qween Beef today :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

I don’t think “tomtit” or “cloaca” are all that commonly used

Re the latter: You’ve never had a conversation with me.

I also agree with you: While I appreciate the moaning about words that don’t make it in and the inconsistency of which foods go in and which don’t, there too many complaints about relatively unknown or unused food terms.

Also: I don’t think I’ve ever seen Mammo but I have seen Mammon which is fair enough. It’s very much a NYT reader vocabulary I think.

What hints? Spelling Bee Buddy (and the original hints) only offer first two letters with access to numbers of words of a particular size.

If you mean something more, those are provided by readers so I’d have to hear more how they are f’d. A lot play with definitions, as I’ve seen.

(I hit Queen Bee – once again doing so with a word that like 70% of the readers got that eluded me. )

The same hint for biotin is also given for an alleged other vitamin B7 that starts with BO :woman_shrugging:

I almost always get Queef Bean, so I’m kinda pissed about this one.

And “ammo” is in the NYT reader vocab, but not “mammo?”

Puh-leeez :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Do I dare ask?

Ok but you haven’t specified the hint source unless you are turning to community comments. IMHO these should be taken as not official NYT hints but as commenters; and within that context, complaints or descriptions as “fkd” are perhaps redundant?

I was referring to the SB buddy hints. I’ve never turned to the community comments.

I usually try to play till I hit Genius without hints, then check the buddy to see which words are left. I only read the actual hints when I am completely lost.

The puzzle on Tue was messed up. I just checked which word I didn’t get: bobbin. That word had the identical cue from “Steve” for biotin.

Now THAT is annoying AF.
