The perfect burger

I like pickles but it is rarely a good addition to a burger.

I like dill pickles on my burgers, too.

I usually get a cheeseburger with dill pickle. Usually I don’t add any other condiments. Just a slice of American cheese or cheddar, and a couple slices of dill pickle.

Sage advice, like comments on grilled cheese or enchiladas; to each their own.

Would be one dull existence if we all liked the same stuff.

Dry?
I’m not sure I’m ready for that.

Hahaha
Gotta watch my salt and sugar, and the slice of cheese is high up on my list of priorities, so I make room for its salt.

I’m a medium-rare burger guy. Tomato, lettuce, pickles, ketchup. Period. Many holidays we wind up at the in-laws and he overcooks all meats, so…… hockey pucks. I just keep my mouth shut. No clue if it’s intentional or if he just can’t judge. Life’s too short to make it an issue.

Sorry venison purists, I do this with venison. Gotta have added pork fat to make is kinda shine. Burman’s mayo!

I hear you. Looks like they could have fit 4-5 more on that thing. Shrinkflation

Wanted a burger today but no buns….so I griddled some TJ’s cracked wheat sourdough, both sides. It might be my new favorite for a home burger. Griddled with butter it’s tasty, has texture but it also holds up better than a bun to the burger mess. I used a grass fed frozen patty from Costco. Might warrant an upgrade to fresh 80/20 hamburger, to fit the shape of the bread and a bigger burger. I cut off about 25% of the bread slice to fit the premade burger.

any suggestions for getting a medium rare burger? you know, rosy pink and juicy. the past few times (most recently this afternoon) i order medium rare and get something between medium and medium well.

maybe try ordering rare?

I guess that depends on the restaurant. There’s a burger place in Berlin where you will get a bleu patty, which is not to everyone’s liking.

Maybe emphasize “on the rarer side of MR?”

Tell the waitperson you want it a bit pink inside (if that’s what you are looking for.) this works better in my experience.

I also, somewhat famously among my friends, send back egregiously incorrectly cooked burgers.

It has always been a crap shoot unless you make your own now. Restaurants and burger joints here are required to cook beef burgers to the well done level. Not juicy at all.

Wait what?
