The Rachel. It's both a haircut and a sandwich.

@Meekah, I decided The Rachel deserves her own thread.

So, one time when lunch for the conference room was being ordered from a deli near a downtown NYC big building, we wondered whether it would make us a Tongue Reuben. "I can only ask . . . " And we received an impressive masterpiece.

The Kentucky slawburger delicacy remains untried, but the Dumas Walker soundtrack is catchy.

When I was little and we still had real delis, my father would bring home sliced tongue.among his stash of wrapped counter goodies. Silly me; I thought it was called tongue because it was shaped like a tongue …

Uh oh.

These days an order of tasty tacos de lengua is an easier order to fill than a good proper tongue sandwich.

In lame defense, we can get the tacos de lengua count up pretty high (tip of hat to our go-to taqueria) . . . That said, for us comparing our preferred tacos de lengua to a “proper tongue sandwich” these days is approaching this morning’s thankless debate of “Ohtani or Ruth?” Sheesh – you play against YOUR competition, not the other guy’s. So, we’ll take both orders – if only both could be had within still-warm driving distance . . .
