It’s a waspy time of year here, too. They get aggressive in Aug/Sept where I live.

Au Pied de Cochon in Montreal? I had the pleasure of dining there twice in maybe 2007-2008 timeframe. I recall everything I ate being amazing. I tried the stuffed pig’s foot, because I’m a glutton for…gluttony. Also vividly recall a tripe special that the waiter talked me into on one of the visits. I generally don’t love tripe but it was tender, succulent, amazingly flavorful, and not at all heavy on that usual tripe flavor. I’m thoroughly envious of you right now!!!

it was lovely! my 4th visit over 16 years i have visited very few Montreal restaurants more than twice, because I always like to try new places! This is one I revisit.

Last night, I chose the scallop and tuna tiradito, the chicken and motel Vol au Vent, and the Pouding Chômeur. I started with an Old Montreal cocktail.

Not this time.

I had a bad experience with foie gras on my last visit to Montreal in 2019 so I currently avoid eating it anywhere.

Like food poisoning, or … ? Curious about what a bad foie gras experience entails.

Just too rich for me.

I had a really lovely family style tasting menu dinner with a dozen peers, including a generous amount of foie gras.

I lost my dinner once I got back to my hotel room.

The 3 things that have led me to this, that I now avoid:

croissants

fettuccine Alfredo / pasta Alfredo

foie gras
