Trader Joe’s Product Reviews – YEA/NAY/MEH – 2025 Edition

In Trader Joe’s today, there was a whole large display of “fall favorites,” which was overall almost entirely pumpkin/pumpkin spice stuff, but included the return of some baking bargains.

Also, on the new products shelf:

And I don’t recall seeing these before:

Pumpkin kringle in the bakery section (with lots of other pumpkin things).

I had to physically restrain myself from buying those pistachios :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I picked up and put back the vanilla beans, because I still haven’t used the (much more expensive) ones I bought at Costco ages ago!

Thanks for the flag on almond paste – my friend who bakes huge amounts of pignoli cookies every year was a fan last year, so I will pick up some more for her.

Dark chocolate pistachios are going into the care packages I’m sending out this week, along with dark chocolate almonds!

I bought a bunch last fall, and still have a couple. It’s a dupe of (or made by) Odense, but about $3 less. I’ll probably top up my supply. Puff pastry’s in stock here, too.

Yessssss! Thank you for the reminder on this. I need to get a few boxes to stock up given their idiotic timing on puff.

I always have a can of dolma in my pastry for when I’m starving and don’t feel like cooking and washing dishes. First, I drain it then add freshly squeezed lemon juice and then good olive oil.

I also love their fresh, refrigerated hot (not really!) pico de gallo. I take a homemade bagel crisp, a little smear of mayo, then some of that salsa … delicious, quick, no mess.

I pretty much do the exact same thing. I love that extra hit of lemon & a drizzle of olive oil :slightly_smiling_face:

Whoa, I am not a big meat eater but that looks good. Is the found around the other beef stuff, or with the premade/pasta type stuff?

I think I hate you. (j/k!) Six oz? I’d finish that in a few minutes. LOL :::Staying away from TJs:::

i had to step away from this. i would open the container & the next thing i knew… i was throwing away an empty container.

I don’t see the problem here..? Was there also a corresponding empty bag of chips?

nope - still 3/4 of the bag of chips left… but they are large bags of chips.

what i had to step away from was blowing past my target daily sodium intake (due to high blood pressure) in one sitting with one item - the chips were the no salt added variety.

So, 2 Tablespoons = 5 % of daily sodium, 11 servings per container. I guess it’s ok in moderate amounts?

moderation is the key… and i found that product particularly hard to eat just one or two serving at a time. i’ll still buy it a few times a year, but not on the weekly like i was when i stepped away.

as far as daily recommended sodium intake, my goal is half the USDA recommendation - hard to accomplish on the daily, but my overarching goal is to get off my blood pressure medication.

YEA for the sliced sourdough bread. I’d been looking for a good sandwich bread forever that isn’t overly sweet & and sturdier than your regular run-of-the-road sammich bread.

We gave it a test run for a late-night grilled cheese with rosemary ham & Calabrian chili mayo.

I think I may have found the holy grail!

MEH to the maple butter - tried to put it on toast, but it was too sweet, and tried it in coffee but couldn’t really taste it. Maybe I’m just using it wrong.
