Those last things look like a lot like Turkish pide. I wonder if that’s the goal? I’ve yet to see them but will grab them for sure when I do.
I found the shrimp sugarcane skewers to be just okay. They’re tasty but a little bit rubbery/wet from being frozen. Not nearly as good as versions in restaurants.
The pide I’ve had don’t curl up that far, nor do the khachapuri, so I’m confused as to what they are trying to appropriate here.
I’ve found a few of their pizze / flatbreads to be satisfactory in the past, i.e. the Alsatian tart, but nothing mind-blowing. Will await your assessment here.
Great crisp on these but overwhelming dried parsley taste. Sure there is a good combo with these but haven’t found it.
Have found it is better to use scissors and food saver clips with most TJ products. They just open weird.
I am wary of fried frozen foods in general, even with the air-fryer doing a much better job these days. We are also spoiled in our area for great, reasonably priced Vietnamese food easily accessible.
First time trying the Kouign Amann, which someone said was seasonal. I think they tasted good after being baked, but it was a bit messy. Not sure if I accidentally let it defrost a bit before I got them home, but I found them to be leaking out some sort of syrupy base. Yikes! They are surprisingly flat, but it did make them easier to eat. Decent flakiness, and not overly sweet (for a pastry).
Very happy that the Korean cinnamon pancakes (hotteok) are back!
Just sampled the Clotted Cream Fudge, which I believe is a new(ish) item.
I’m a big fan of condensed milk and this basically tastes like solidified condensed milk. On the other hand, it’s unapologetically, achingly, absolutely sweeeeeeet. The bag inside the box contains maybe 20 little nuggets of “fudge.” I had one and I was done. Which would have been a bonus if I didn’t have various Christmas cookies in the house to have as a secondary dessert…
Not awful. Probably will finish it (very slowly). Will almost certainly never buy again, but no regrets on this one. So I’ll give it a solid MEH.
