The sub was a great deal, even with the exchange rate, but the other items we bought were at least 25-30% more expensive than back home. Maybe because we’re in Naples? ![]()
That has been the case with grocery prices whenever I have gone grocery shopping in resort areas, like Aspen or Tahoe.
*$10.99
I dunno, Publix and other chain grocery stores should be the same price every where.
Ideally they should be, but they aren’t.
Prices at Loblaws, No Frills, Metro, Food Basics, Sobeys, etc aren’t even the same between London,Ont and Toronto.
I’m always surprised when the Toronto Little Italy Metro is charging more for milk and canned goods than what I’m paying at Metro in LdnOnt.
Rent is vastly higher in Toronto than it is in London Ont, so I guess I just answered my own question as to why Publix in Naples is so expensive ![]()
and, what the Naples market will bear!
what really sucks is that groceries are also much more expensive in rural communities and northern communities, where much of the population is broke. very expensive in Newfoundland, Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, rural SK, Manitoba, Alberta, NWT, Yukon, Nunavut, relative to a mid-sized city.
hope you find the right bangs for your Naples bucks!
All that matters is that the sanguweech was tasty ![]()
I hope you squeeze in a Cuban (sando) while you’re in Florida.
Currently 58F in South Florida! Warmer tomorrow, though.
Yes! And getting warmer for the rest of the week!
After a hike on Mount Sutro we had a nice Japanese inspired lunch at Bread N’Chu https://www.breadnchu.com/
Tonkatsu - crispy pork chop, shredded cabbage, kewpie mayonnaise, katsu sauce
Chashu - japanese marinated braised pork belly, shredded cabbage, sweet shoyu
Sea Salt Coffee with Cheese Creamer
Nice looking sandos.
I haven’t tried coffee with a cheese creamer yet. Would you order it again?
A rare lunch out - split a huge Gyros platter and dinner-sized spanakopita at our local Greek fast-food restaurant Gyropolis.. So good. They opened a beautiful new outdoor patio this summer, but we’re now well beyond patio-season; it’s already on my list for Spring.
JianBing.
The classic Crepe Wrap filled with crushed crackers, pickled mustard greens, lettuce, scallions and extra egg.
ShaoBing
Muslim flatbread, roughly translated as Fire Bread. Ordered simply with pickled mustard green.
I took one of the chicken breasts I picked up this morning and turned it into chicken salad for lunches (for Sunshine). Its a pretty simple recipe Onion, chicken, mayo, dash of salt and a little dash of chili powder.
I like to add chopped celery to mine, Worcestershire, and onion powder.
Love a good chicken salad!
