Thanks!! The Doctor(s) have ruled out the scary stuff, so that’s good.
I mean its not the end of the world if she speaks in a whisper. She isn’t in any pain and is eating just fine.
I told her if it gets worse, we’ll learn sign language.
As far as her falling into the pantry, I really think this is a one-off mishap – where she just over reached and lost her balance. She hasn’t had any other falls or tumbles and we do go for a walk around the neighborhood 3-4 times a week.
I’m glad I found a use for that rice. I wasn’t looking forward to eating it. It was one of those “Emergency” items that you keep around “just in case”. We have plenty of other rice in the house. I’m sure as we age, we’ll need the “rice filled sock” again for some ache or pain.
Flu shot and B-12 injection on Wednesday. The covid jab yesterday (not in the flu shot arm) ran me over today. Taking it way easy today since I can’t raise my right arm. We might get snow tonight!
Just found out that my sister-in-law is stuck in Negril, Jamaica. Her flight got cancelled on Friday. She’ll have to ride out Hurricane Melissa in her hotel.
I was in Hurricane Bob in 1991 on the Cape, and that was a Cat 2. Melissa is currently a Cat 4. Negril is on the westernmost area of the island and it’s going to hit the eastern side the worst, but the entire island will probably have major damage.
Please keep everyone in the storm’s path in your thoughts.
Sorry to hear this and hope she’s okay.
Luckily, I was once on the other side of this situation & got stranded in Ocho Rios when all flights out were cancelled due to a massive snowstorm on the East Coast. Had to rough it at the resort and didn’t get back to NYC for 2 days.
I would hope it was built to deal with it as well (built in 1980; renovated several times, the last time being 2014). But it’s RIGHT on 7 Mile Beach, so flooding is going to be horrific, as they’re expecting 160mph winds with Melissa’s Cat 5 status this morning, and 18-24" of rain in the next 24 hours, depending on where you are. So landslides are also going to be an issue in the mountainous regions.
She said it’s crazy windy right now, but worst of the storm hasn’t yet made landfall this morning. She said “The staff is awesome. They just brought more food for breakfast and lunch figuring they won’t be able to run food back and forth in a couple of hours. And they sent sandwiches last night.”
So far, so good. The next 8 hours will be very very rough.
Looks like they did OK. My sister got a text from my SIL:
“All is good. Winds calming a bit and rain has slowed down for the moment. They are preparing dinner at buffet at 8 if it stays somewhat calm we are going to restaurant. If it’s still not safe they will bring food to us.”
That’s a relief, for sure. We got hit by the outer edge of a hurricane in the Bahamas, years ago. It was pretty scary. She’ll have some good stories to tell when she’s back.
