I think she needs to be roommates with the M&M’s guy from Market Basket. They’re awesome kindred spirits.
LOVE her! She is Classic Boston.
Not originally being from here, I was a bit taken aback when I began to run into this in the early 90s. But I grew into it, rolled with it, and embraced the specific locality of local Bostonians and love the directness of “take me as I am and eff you if you don’t like it!” ![]()
But aren’t you from Jersey? I would think characters from there are a dime a dozen. Much like RI.
I am, but northern NJ just outside NYC didn’t have characters like this…at least not that I saw growing up in the white bread town I lived in. She’d fit right in in Brooklyn or the Jersey Shore area though. ![]()
She’s great - I did grow up with people like her in Jersey (northern jersey too) - but also here in Boston (ironically, sounds like she is from Waltham originally - which is where I am now). Ah - good times.
Sounds a lot like Berlin. It can be a bit exhausting, but I’ll take a straightforward attitude over false niceties any damn day.
Great share! She has amazing energy and vibes.
For me, the best part of it is the employees bringing their homeland foods from Sri Lanka, Nepal, etc. And the Massachusetts native standing in the middle of it all, acknowledging, “good people.” That’s the real story at the heart of it.
I hope that someday that acknowledgement won’t be a noteworthy part of the story.
It already was 5 years ago, and people voted to turn that tide.
