Trader Joe’s Product Reviews – YEA/NAY/MEH – 2025 Edition

What?!

No!!

French toast = stale or slightly dried out bread soaked in an egg custard and pan fried

Cinnamon toast = regular toasted bread, heavily buttered, and coasted with a mix of cinnamon and sugar

They are only similar in that they involve heating up bread for breakfast.

As Walter said, “THIS IS NOT ‘NAM! THERE ARE RULES!”

Thanks for the levity this AM :slightly_smiling_face:

Three words:

Vegan custard? How?

Well that was kind of my point, it’s gotta just effectively be cinnamon toast, right???

Anyway, I suggest we let this thread get back to its regularly scheduled Trader Joe’s action. I haven’t been to TJ’s for a couple of weeks and I need some inspiration!

Just egg, extra creamy oat milk, Miyoko’s Creamery butter … plus slightly stale sourdough. It works. Especially with TPSTO maple syrup.

Now back to TJ’s stuff. :winking_face_with_tongue:

Custard powder. Since 1837. Swap the milk with a vegan equivalent.

If I ever buy a bag they won’t make it home.

Meh to the cookies and cream ice cream sandwiches. The ice cream is good but the cookie has that odd flavor that shelf-stable chewy cookies have.

Hellz to the YAYYY for the pizza dough & the quattro formaggio, the fresh basil and the hot snossidges (indubitably I’ve mentioned them before, as they totes deserve their own post).

The pizza sauce was more of a MEH, as it didn’t really rock our boot.

Are you drinking a TJ’s wine while shaping that pizza

Not in PA. We got a nice Sicilian rosato from the state store :wine_glass:

A resounding F YEAH for the shaved lamb shoulder, which worked wonderfully in last night’s hot pot. You might be able to make a cheesesteak with it, too, if that’s how ya roll.

The lamb shoulder is the lighter meat, the dark meat was local chip steak :face_savoring_food:

Yea: Lemon Elderflower Soda. Nice flavor, not overly sweet as sodas go (lemon juice comes after carbonated water and before cane sugar in the short ingredient list), and I like that it comes in 8-ounce cans, not too much for a little refresher, and just right for a mixer.

I love this stuff.

The new version of the organic hearty vegetable broth, shown on the right, is terrible. I started pouring it out and thought it was bad based on the color. Nope, just a reformulation to cheapen the product. Ugh.

The difference in ingredients is kind of insane. All whole veg ingredients replaced with pastes or concentrate. Vinegar added presumably to try to make up for lack of flavor? Yikes…

Increasing the ultra processed items, cutting out the minimally processed ingredients. Sad.
