Updates and running commentary from our critters

I’ve never had a cat who loved people food (except for cantaloupe).

Both of mine will nibble at roasted chicken or fresh salmon. Never much.

I have one who would stand on his head for tikka masala. Go figure.

No weirder than prior cats, I guess. We had a big orange tom who would eat no people food, except spaghetti with red sauce, and one who would get on the counter to snarf down peach cobbler (she loved plain pie crust, too)

Our ginger cat Chester, loved cheddar cheese.
Our black 16 y.o. black cat likes deli turkey.
We had a cat who loved sponges with the scent of Comet cleanser.
Another got a weekly serving of tiny shrimp.
Grand cat liked watermelon, then didn’t anymore.
We had an aquanitance who would eat cat tuna because it was inexpensive. To each their own.

I forgot … I had one who would get up on the counter and eat ripening tomatoes.

The Dude was a huge fan of roast chicken and roast beef. He also legendarily sucked out the cream filling from a cream puff that had found its way on the floor after a late-night poker game :cat_with_wry_smile:

Rocky didn’t care for any people food at all. The closest he got was endlessly sniffing cheddar sticks & licking out the minuscule remnants from the foil they come in.

Cats be weird.

My cat growing up loved cooked chicken–she would beg for it. Our girls don’t have any interest in eating people food, but the one who’s always on my wife’s lap at dinner really likes to smell (and try to touch) whatever’s on the plate. Yenta.

Oh that is too funny!!
When DD1 had two Boston Terriers, the younger one would rest/sleep on top of the older one, because they were both vying for my attention, and were trying to get as close to me as possible.

History has it that Boston Terriers were bred to be lap dogs for society women in Boston. I tend to believe it, since I’ve never encountered dogs that have to be that close to you, all the time! Makes me a little claustrophobic in fact. And the propensity for licking is off the charts. I’ve cared for three, and they’re all strikingly similar in that regard. Wonderful doggies all the same.

Since our boys were found dumped in the middle of BF nowhere, we’ve no way of knowing their prior living situation. What we do know is that they must’ve been introduced to human food, bc they love it. All of it. Any of it. We were beleaguered by both of them when I made popcorn for us last night (maybe the lamb fat & ghee mix I used to pop it was the reason).

Like being circled by furry sharks! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
