What’s in your oven?
But seriously, jammy fruit bars
Ready for the close up; some sections peach jam (left), some blackberry (right),
all crumbly, but all good!
About to test out tres leches bread pudding (actually, cuatro leches, because I’m throwing a little coconut milk in there too) as a test run for a cook-off entry later this month.
Happy October! An all day training today.. we bought pizza for the team, I brought in Girl Scout cookies ( I was delighted to find out that some lived in my complex!!), and I made this Apple Cinnamon Bread for the first time. It was a big hit.. I forgot to take a picture of it last night, here was the lone remaining half piece
Sunshine wanted something sweet, so I made up a (Martha Stewart) chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. I’ve got to start using up all of the peanut butter I purchased (on sale).
I’m always happy to see your results when “Sunshine wanted something sweet”. This chocolate/peanut butter cake and frosting combo is particularly appealing. I’m adding the cake recipe to my baking list.
Thank you…
If you want the cake recipe, here is the link…
As far as the frosting, its just kind of a made up butter cream frosting
(2) Tbsp of softened butter
3/4 cup of Peanut Butter
(2) cups of powdered sugar (give or take)
Mix with hand mixer, make a mess, then dribble in a 1/2 tsp of milk at a time until I get the consistency that I want.
Yes, I had to snap a couple of pictures quickly. As soon as I finished applying the frosting, Sunshine had her fork ready for a piece.
Thanks for the cake recipe link - that looks super easy. I found this peanut butter buttercream frosting that’s similar to yours, online at Taste of Home. Slightly different balance using equal parts butter and peanut butter. I am planning a half recipe of frosting.
i mean, it’s not like jarred peanut butter is gonna go bad quickly.
True… I just felt like I’ve made enough chocolate frosting and thought Sunshine might like something different.
oh for sure, def worth branching out. PB frosting is dangerously delicious.
Picture of today’s imitation of @Desert-Dan combo - Chocolate Busy Day Dump Cake from Martha Stewart , thinly frosted with 1/8 of the Taste of Home Peanut Butter Buttercream frosting (I made a quarter recipe with 1 C powder sugar, then used only half of the batch.) Great fun to make and an enjoyable lunchtime dessert.
Yesssssss
‘tis already greedily drinking brandy and rum?
actually, I add brandy to the candied fruits - they ‘unstick’ and incorporate easier.
it’s enough that I don’t brush/soak the fruitcake post bake.
of course, the hard sauce has some kick!
Milk bread, sesame variation. My usual milk bread recipe with a paste of ground sesame seeds, sugar and oil added. Seems a little denser than the plain one. Will help me work through some of those tomatoes behind.
On my bucket list for awhile. Chocolate Tahini Babka Buns from One Tin Bakes by Edd Kimber.
Brioche dough was made 2 days ago and refrigerated. It was a dream roll out. Filling is chocolate, tahini and brown sugar. After spreading on the brioche i waited about 8 minutes for it to solidify a bit. After baking brushed with syrup and sprinkled with sesame seeds. I broke them apart for storing into another pan and they are very light in weight.
Gorgeous! ![]()
Thank you. Ive looked for the recipe online but cant find it. Recipe says 2 teaspoons sesame seeds but i will use them sparingly next time
