That’s how I make my grilled cheese sammies - just the cheese and bread. I remember getting a grilled cheese at a take out place a few years ago and they added sliced tomato to my grilled cheese

Hah! That is an extremely normal sandwich where I’m from. Years ago, I ordered one in a diner in Solon, Iowa, and the server looked at me like I had two heads. “You want grilled cheese?” “Yes.” “AND tomato.” “Yes.” “On the same sandwich?” “Yes.” “Oooookay.”

It can make it unnecessarily soggy. I’d rather have a sliced tomato with a little s&p on the side.

October 14 = Battle of Hastings Day = Full English breakfast.
Eggs, bacon, sausage roll, potatoes, roasted tomatoes and mushrooms. Heinz beans and HP sauce optional.
On a less traditional note, there was gazpacho.
