Another sunny day, albeit it cooler and more of that insane wind (40mph) that seems to have picked up significantly… about 20 years ago 
We scooted to our favorite sushi place for lunch, then hit a few shops with more or less success. Our pad doesn’t have a honing steel & I was hoping to find a cheapo one… not the Zwilling the lady at the department store tried to convince me to get. As much as it pains me, I put in an order at amazon. $14.99 is a good price 
WFD was a low-key affair at home: revived our stale sourdough with a spiffy method I never knew about, and had it with an assortment of cheeses (Taleggio, Raschera, and scallion crack 
fennel salami, two kinds of herring salad, and marinated zuke & eggplant.
Oh, and some of the leftover salad from last night. The herring salads were disappointing: the dill one was too salty, the beets & apple one too sweet, so I tossed them both 
The brands are usually good quality, but it might be best to find a local fishmonger who makes their own.
