Do you find that dried parsley has any flavor? Maybe I’ve only had really ancient stuff, but I liken it to confetti ![]()
Winged it. 4 Anaheims, 3 serranos, 10 tomatillos, 1 white onion, a head of garlic, cumin seeds, and Mexican oregano, all roasted in a 400F oven for 30 minutes and then pulsed in the blender until chunky. It made 3 cups. 2 cups got used tonight to braise a couple chicken thighs and some Great Northern beans I pulled from the freezer. The other cup will get used with shrimp for tacos tomorrow (probably).
Thanks for the deetz! Bookmarked for later

You are very welcome!
Not much - I’ve only used fresh parsley. I bought some dried parsley last winter to see if it would add flavour to my meals but there is pretty well no taste to it. When I finish it up I will stick to fresh.
ILOL It hasn’t been cold enough yet! But I just redid my freezer list today, and I do have BISO chicken thighs…
I hear you.
Luckily they leave all their goodness in the braising liquid/sauce along.
I have some leg quarters thawed and am considering it…
Drizzly and grey out, befitting a serious case of the Mondays. I realized during my morning workout that my shoulder isn’t showing any improvement despite a cortisone shot last week, so I guess I’ll have to try & move up my MRI, which is currently scheduled for early November — surgery appears to be inevitable at this point
When I was leaving the gym the door slammed shut on my right arm, hitting a bone that now hurts like a mofo. At least my other chronic pain issue has been flaring up bigly since I started the stemwave treatment, so that’s been a super distraction. Ha.
Did some grocery shopping & dropped a bunch of lime leaves off at a friend’s house, since I was gifted such an abundance ![]()
Dinner was cheeborgerz & friez — gave TJ’s chuck, brisket & sirloin patties a shot since I was there already, and they compared favorably to Wegmans’ chuck & brisket patties that are $4 more expensive ![]()
My PIC pan-fried them to a perfect MR with ultra sharp ‘murrcan cheese, shredded iceberg, thick slice of red onion, Heinz & Dukes.
L&W fries from the air-fryer with Heinz & Kewpie.
Mexicoke with. Nice ending to a stupid day.
Last dinner for my sister, who heads back to Arizona tomorrow. Fabulous lamb kofte from the posh butcher, creamed baby kale, roasted FM veg with garden herbs from a friend. Imagine our surprise when the flesh of the fingerlings turned out to be pink!!
After two days of 20 mph winds with gusts upwards of 50 mph, all I could think of was soup. Luckily, Mr Bean caught lovey tog on Friday that hadn’t gotten prepped for freezing. Corn and fish chowder, with CSA corn (the cobs helped flavor the broth ala @LindaWhit), chopped clams, potatoes, onions, carrots, garlic, ,bay leaf, thyme, smoked paprika, milk and heavy cream. Hit the spot.
Taco Monday.
Old-school, hard-shell tacos with leftover peri-peri chicken and Tillamook cheddar. For garnish, shredded lettuce and an avocado-spiked pico de gallo. A choice of chipotle vinaigrette or sriracha mayo (or both) over everything. Leftover refried beans, and red rice.
By request, sister cooked me NYT lemony shrimp and bean stew. Delicious. I was allowed to prepare the composed spinach salad which included celery, apples, hazelnuts, and cambozola cheese dressed with homemade honey mustard dressing. Warm baguette and butter were needed to sop up the juices of everything. I may have licked my plate. We ate late because we’re trying to learn to play gin rummy.
Fall Vegetable Stew - first longer rain showers in the Bay Area, time for some warm stew with savoy cabbage, brussels sprouts, carrots, white beans, baby spinach, celery, chestnuts, onions, diced tomatoes, garlic, sage, basil, tomato paste, parmesan and vegetable broth

Once you learn, you’ll never forget. Let us know who won.![]()
That looks excellent.
That fish looks great. I am glad you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Thanks. I’ve been lax about make real meals lately and need to get back into the groove.
