It was a shrimp ramen, strawberry hi pro yogurt and a no sugar ginger ale. Small meal that was too much.
Yep – you guessed it… Brats again!! This time mixed with Mac & Cheese topped with broccoli cuts. Not great, but it was a hot meal.

Pizza Saturday. Looks like one more after this due to weather.
Base . Monterey Jack , and smoked mozzarella. Topped with crushed tomatoes. Cheers.
Sous-vide bavette steak, medium rare a little warmer than last time (134F vs 132, still chewy) and mashed potatoes. I’m going to try 136 next time
After spending the day cleaning and taking out my winter clothes I was pooped by dinnertime. So I decided to have this weekend’s salade nicoise last night since the beans had already been blanched and the potato had already been boiled so I just nseded to plate it. I had a chocolate peanut butter parfait for dessert.
NOM!
It was very decadent! It tasted a little like Reeses peanut butter cups with whipped cream on top ![]()
I need to make up a ‘Pizza of the Month’ calendar with photos of your creations!
I’d take one off your hands ![]()
I got as far as having made garlic croutons and Caesar dressing when I discovered the lettuce had gone off. So, steamed broccoli and cauliflower subbed in. Caesar dressing goes with brassica and croutons just fine
Roasted salmon to go with.
Yay for your improv skillz!
A backwards dinner…I woke up craving garlic bread, so dinner was decided around that.
Mini penne was baked in a meat sauce of ground turkey, chopped onions, minced garlic, lots of dried basil and oregano, chopped fresh tomatoes that I pureed and combined with a cup of Carmine’s marinara to use up, and a very healthy blup of tomato paste to thicken it all up. Shredded mozzarella on top.
The garlic bread was a couple of club rolls I had purchased for work sandwiches, split in half, and schmeared with softened butter and garlic-herb-parsley seasoning and baked in the toaster oven.
There was wine.
A lazy Sunday in The Happiest of Valleys spent snuggling our kitties, playing “catch-up” on NYer issues, and doing a quick run to the store for dinner. The wind had picked up significantly by the time I finally left the house, and I had to hold on to my sundress so as to not traumatize any randos in the parking lot

Dinner was Thai red curry with black tiger shrimp, red bell pepper & baby bok choy leaves. I drove over to my friend’s house to harvest some of her Thai basil, but her plant had bit the dust during the frost we had recently, so I had to use the regular basil from another friend.
Made a shrimp stock with TPSTOS I had saved in the freezer, plus a small shallot that needed used up.
Started the curry by sautéing a few chopped up bird peppers, ginger, garlic & lemongrass in peanut oil until the entire household was coughing, added the curry paste, the super-concentrated shrimp stock, the coconut milk, lotsa lime juice & Red Boot fish sauce to taste, and finally the veggies. Aldi’s snappy & flavorful black tiger shrimp joined the party last.
My dude made the jasmine rice bc he’s the rice cooker at casa lingua. A heaping helping of Sinatra on top. Didn’t suck ![]()
A heaping helping of Sinatra is WAY better than cilantro. ![]()
We enjoyed another outstanding dinner at James on Main, in Hackettstown, NJ, including Baja Bay scallop aguachile with crispy tostada, micro flowers & herbs; roasted chicken and foie gras medallion with leek & brown butter crepe, sauce sauterne; wild Gulf shrimp with thai chili marinated squid, green papaya, mango, peanut scallion vinaigrette; duck confit spring roll with pickled hon shimeji mushroom & seaweed salad, smoked lions’s mane mushroom teriyaki hot sauce; wood fired pork belly - 6 hour smoked black duroc hog, apple cider bbq, garlicky pinto beans; yellow coconut curry and coral tooth mushroom with toasted pumpkin seeds, roasted Japanese eggplant, sticky black rice; crispy hand cut fries. It all went great with a couple of excellent cabernets.
That’s odd. Tried posting a FS tune (several times) and all I see is a blank space. Very odd.
Pasta Grannies: Lucia and Caterina’s pasta with meatballs.
The pasta was a new one for me and fun to make. The name of it is sagne ncannulate and the shape is made by rolling pasta ribbons into twisted tubes. The sauce is tomato with fresh basil and the meatballs are a combination of beef and pork with nutmeg, pecorino and wine among other things. It’s another very delicious dish that will be made again.
