Tuna & tomato melt on sourdough, with a side of BBQ chips. Canned Italian tuna/mayo/ diced green olives and a couple dashes of hot sauce. Twas a thicc sammich so I only ate half, saving the other half for tomorrow.

Preparation for tomorrow’s dinner. In the foreground, the jelly that is trotter gear a la Fergus Henderson and in the background, chicken stock . Both are being used for the pheasant that’s slowly braising in the oven.

Wow! Can’t wait to see the finished dish!!!

I made another chupe yesterday, but this time with shredded chicken (which I understand is more typically Venezuelan than the Peruvian one I made before), since the boyfriend is camaron-averse. Good on a rainy day, though a little mushy. (But needs must, due to BF’s ongoing dental issues.)

I also made a small batch of Serious Eats bacon jam, minus the coffee, cuz my seester wouldn’t like it, and it’s going to top some deviled eggs over the holiday. It’s sooo good! Sweet/salty/tangy/smokey… and largely a hands-off recipe.

Tonight’s dinner was a vegetarian rice pilaf with freshly squeezed grape juice from the farmers market.

Tonight I made moong dal, coconut curry chickpeas with pumpkin and lime [and some chicken köfte I found in the freezer], garlic sauteed spinach, cucumber-tomato raita, and cauli-brown rice. Naan for the kiddo.

Fed us and the freezer!

Simple dinner tonight: the chicken breast I had taken out yesterday for parmigiana that was pushed off to tonight was simply roasted with olive oil, s/p. A 1/2 cup of leftover spicy apricot glaze from wings I made earlier this year was pulled from the freezer, defrosted, and spooned over top for the last 15 minutes. Steamed asparagus alongside.

MOAR food shopping for the holidaze: eggnog from a local dairy for thems that want any on either xmas eve or xmas day, and whole milk & heavy cream for my PIC’s pistachio ice cream, plus tons o’ festive wines & bublés.

Unfortunately, the whole milk bottle had a rough encounter with the magnum Korbel in the back of my car when we got home, which required immediate broken glass & milk removal  Plus we’ll have to go back to the dairy for more milk. Good times!

My PIC’s developed a sinus infection & got a different antibiotic today that will hopefully, finally bring him some relief :crossed_fingers:

There’s a few more bits & bobs to get on xmas eve proper, like Taleggio & a nice blue — I just remembered we’ve yet to open the ice wine the owner of our favorite Sichuan place gifted me when she retired, which will go nicely with the cheese plate / ice cream, and I still need Aldi’s gem lettuce & hopefully better looking Belgian endive than the crap I saw earlier at the Giant.

Flipped my gravlax & bedded it in fresh dill and that’s about all the kitchen ‘work’ I felt like today. Lazy meal of takeout hand-pulled noodz w/veg and a coupla lamb & beef skewers WFD. Despite having ordered the noodz extra spicy, they were not. Easily remedied with one of our many home heat sources, of course.

The lamb was great, the beef was on the chewy/fatty side. Meh.

They insisted I take the free drink that came with the order, so I carried this dumb beverage home, only to immediately chuck it. I don’t understand the compulsion to need edible pebbles in one’s drink, and never will :woman_shrugging:

Agree. I don’t want to have to chew my drink. (And I would have told them they could have it, or give it to the next person in line.)

I have a 2# bag of shells in the freezer, thinking of shrimp bisque for NY eve. Do you have a favorite recipe?

Coconut corn chowder.

cold tofu with sesame seeds, garlic and scallions, a little hot oil poured over to sizzle, with soy dressing, chili crisp and cilantro over the top. And the BF’s cuke salad. So good after a day of eating 10 lbs. of baked goods/other crap at the office today… I’m over the holidays! :face_with_tongue:
