Finally back at our favorite taco joint for Cajun shrimp tacos, the third in the flight being pork chile verde. I really need to make that myself soon ![]()

My home-made Rosti at home are flat like Swiss Rosti.
Anticipating a delicious Saturday lunch - we’ll reheat this recipe-inspired philly cheesesteak pizza. I used only 5 slices of American cheese, 1.5 C Mexican 3-cheese blend and that was plenty. Fully cooked thin sliced roast beef lunch meat, cut up, instead of raw steak, just needed a quick heat. And a convenient package of frozen tri-color peppers and onion mix saved me slicing time.
Checked out a new café & ice cream parlor in the town over we’d heard good stuff about.
Shared the smoked brisket sammich on ciabatta with caramelized onion and a wonderful horseradish dipping sauce, plus a roasted fingerling potato salad on the side. The brisket was smoky, fatty, and fall-apart tender. I liked that the potato salad wasn’t too heavy on the mayo.
Dessert was a much too large sundae with their salted caramel and butter pecan ice creams, hot fudge, and toasted salted peanuts. I wasn’t as impressed with their ice cream as I was with the sammich ![]()
Meatballs, rice, duxelles was a bit of a clean out the fridge lunch. Herbs from the garden and some grated Pecorino gave it a freshening up.
Dessert was layered pastry cream, plum jam and pistachio.

Layered hot dish to use up taco filling leftovers -two repeats of salsa, refried beans, ground beef with taco seasoning, pulled pork, shredded cheese, flour tortillas. With a final topping of salsa and cheese. This will bake about 40 minutes to heat everything and melt the cheese
Today is looking as if it will be burritos. Spread tortillas de harina with frijoles refritos, crema agria, queso, and salsa. Roll and microwave.
Yum! My clean out fridge leaves me nothing for lunch! ![]()
Grilled cheese and fried chorizo on pane cereale with a Parm Regg crust, a few broken chips on the side.
Three cheese katchapuri, a generous sprinkling of peperoncini with Italian seasoning. My egg was jammy rather than runny
but overall still delicious.
Pizzette Fritte , parm, basil and barely warmed through tomato slices prior to topping.
There was a green salad on both days.
