Shoveling my beloved Tillamook chocolate hazelnut & mocha almond fudge down my gullet last night I was wondering what some other folks’ favorite ice cream brands and flavors were.
Graeter’s CC varieties are also amazeballz — coffee and black cherry pacifically! Those chips are more like gigantic chonkz of chocolate.
I’ve yet to find a pistachio I like (Wegners goes overboard with nuts, Van Leeuwen doesn’t have any (pshaw!), Ben & Jerry’s is too sweet, can’t remember Häagen Dasz now as we don’t buy it on the regular, and of course I am spoiled with my PIC’s fantastic homemade pistachio ice cream
Same with butter pecan or maple walnut. Any standouts on that front you recommend (ideally not hyper-local brands not available nationwide)?
Or maybe ya just want to share your own… personal… flavah!
My PIC introduced me to Moose Tracks when I first moved to the US. Can’t remember the last time I had any!

Used to like Green & Blacks (vanilla) but the supermarket has stopped stocking it. So, now we buy their indifferent own brand stuff - I confess to enjoying their raspberry ripple.
My favorite is whatever’s in the freezer ATM. I’m not terribly picky. If there’s a choice, though, it’s whatever flavor that does not have marshmallows in it. And I won’t buy Breyer’s on principle.
Mine too, but my store quite stocking it when the chocolate collection came out and I’m pissed. I’ll buy their French Vanilla and add my own caramel and chopped up Heath bar.
Our choices are limited here, so it’s Ben and Jerry’s for the win.
And if I have a favorite B&J favorite flavor…it’s New York Super Fudge Chunk.
I’ve got another reason to love B&J…I went to school in Burlington Vt and lived right down the road from their factory. It was long ago enough that I used to buy pints of ice cream from their original converted gas station that they started out in.
I grew up on the local Dreyer’s toasted almond which was my favorite until it was discontinued. Then B&R lemon custard, later their Jamoca almond fudge. Java chip was a favorite, too. Homemade blackberry is the current fave and homemade peppermint stick around the holidays. Oh hell, I love them all.
I used to love this flavor but it has become a bit too rich for me in my dotage. Now I’m all about their Mint Chocolate Cookie. So far superior to mint chip.
I have narrowed it down this year to Haagen Daz Pralines and Cream, Haagen Daz Vanilla Bean, Haagen Daz Coffee, and Chapman’s Premium Vanilla. I wait until the Haagen Daz price drops to less than $6 CAD/ pint. Regular price is around $7.99 CAD at most stores now.
The Keg Billy Miner Pie ice cream went over well, but I only bought it once.
