@mariacarmen’s ribs uptopic and the discussion inspired me to make some ribs. As always, sekrit rub, four hours foil-wrapped. Over minimally seasoned lentils and brown rice, to absorb the juices from the ribs–a cowboy hippie plate?

These weren’t the Akaushi ribs that she got, but another type from the same refrigerator case at Berkeley Bowl, less expensive, worth looking for. A “Choice” tag in the upper left.

Last night’s dinner was spaghetti with marinara sauce with steamed broccoli on the side. I had grandiose plans to make a salad on the side but last night was one of the few nights I couldn’t be bothered.

After my PIC left for his work stuff I met up with an old friend for a terribly mediocre taco lunch. The second food “miss” this visit, especially in comparison to what we can get back in the boonz. What gives???

Spent the afternoon bopping around our old stomping grounds near South Street & the Italian Market for some shopping: a box of Italian cookies from Isgro’s to have around for our afternoon coffees (no doubt there will be another visit before we leave), two new feather toys for our crazy boys at our favorite pet shop, then made my way back to our hotel.

Met up with @Bigley9 at a cute Mediterranean/Italian, cash-only BYOB near my hotel that happened to have a table for two open… and I happened to have two bottles of chilled white: a lovely WA Riesling and a Falanghina.

The restaurant started us off with a plate of nice enough but not very interesting hummus, olives & fresh toasted pita bread.

We split the octopus app with chorizo, potatoes, sun-dried tomatoes and romesco sauce — a must-order item for both of us, plus the beet salad. The octopus was very tender, but we missed a proper char on the outside.

The beet salad was lovely and refreshing.

For our main we split the cacio e pepe rigatoni with black truffle and lobster, and I’m glad we did. It was very good, but also very rich.

We hit up the same bar my boo and I went to the previous night for a couple of martinis, then called it a night.

Good evening, better food, and even better company

We’ll hook up again tomorrow on our way out to retrieve the SEAM lemongrass sausages Pat was nice enough to pick up for us :hugs:

Galinette https://www.galinettesf.com/ is relatively new (a bit more than a year) French restaurant in the Outer Sunset. Quite small with a few tables and larger communal one. Typical French bistro fare, very well done with surprisingly large portions for (at least for the Bay area) quite reasonable prices. The only minor quibble were the poached eggs for the salad lyonnaise were cooked a bit too long - not solid but also not as liquid as it should be)

Lyonnaise Frisee, lardon, poached eggs, mustard dressing

Flat Iron Steak Frites, green peppercorn sauce

Bread Pudding

I’m making the Instant Pot Garlicky Cuban Pork from the Skinnytaste web site. I’ll top with pico de gallo, chopped cilantro, and some queso fresco. To go with I’m making cilantro-lime rice. I made this recipe a couple of weeks ago and was surprised at how tasty it was.

those are beauties! i’ll look for those too, thanks.

oh ok, thanks! i’ll take a look.

Trying to cram as much veg and protein into my meals since my appetite has dwindled, thanks to the mighty OZ(down 20lbs since August 7th).
Another romaine salad with seared pork, salad garnished with feta. Tomorrow will be a cheat/treat day!

At least you still have an appetite! My friends on those drugs practically have to force themselves to eat, but maybe you’ve not reached full dosage yet?

I have reached full dosage, some days I’m hungrier than others. I still have to be careful of what I shove in my gullet.

Congrats! But is it normal for ozempic to kill your appetite that much?..

Oh ya, that’s why it works so well(for most people)

@PedroPero seems to be faring better than my friends on that stuff (although they are on various drugs — GLP-1 compounds, Ozempic, Wegovy, etc. etc.). They have to force themselves to eat more than, say, 2-3 nigiri for dinner.

How else would one lose so much weight so quickly if it weren’t for practically starving one’s self? ETA: Which is also why those who go off it gain most of the weight back pretty quickly, bc nobody can sustain a ‘below 1000cals/day’ diet in the long run.

I also don’t feel bloated or nauseous like I did in the beginning, mostly because I’ve figured out what foods make me feel that way and when to eat them. I went for spicy Hakka yesterday for lunch with the fam and I ate quite a bit, I was worried about the spice level but I suffered no consequences.

They don’t always have them. Today the fridge case had only the Akaushis.

Both my GP and endocrinologist said 2000 cals per day for me would help with weight loss, but I doubt I could do that on my own.
