The last two residents were much better behaved, with the most recent one not caring one bit about any type of people food (!).
These two must have been scavengers out in the wild for a while

I think we had to eat standing up for about 3 weeks after we first got Parker. The first time we fed him, he jumped up on the counter where the bowl was and growled because he was so territorial about food. Scavenging in the streets is no joke!

Do you give the boys tuna juices?
Nope. While these kids were clearly fending for themselves for the first year of their lives, they now have access to cat food multiple times a day.

Our dog was found as a stray, pregnant with pups. A couple days after we brought her home from the rescue, I turned my back briefly at the kitchen counter only to see that she’d made away with a slice of the honeydew melon I had been cutting up. I looked into the other room where she was happily chomping melon in her crate. She continues to looove vegetables and fruit, particularly tomatoes.
She’s much better at not helping herself to food now that she has been living the good life with us. But I know that if a temptation is left unattended, the perp might still strike.

The way these two “play” with the (formerly two, now one) brand-new feather toy(s) I got them in Philly makes me think a few birdies might’ve lost their lives bc of them.
Hopefully, they will soon realize that there is no shortage of food & love in this household

So many beautiful salads since I visited here last. Wow!
Still working through “The Build Your Bowl Salad Cookbook”. Today was tandoori chicken and spiced cauliflower bowl.
Chicken thighs marinated for about an hour in a tandoori spiced yogurt, spiced and roasted cauliflower, a cumin yogurt dressing and some mixed greens and crunchy veg. Another winner.

Bag of romaine hearts means it’s been a few days of Caesar salads over here 
Variations on the base recipe from COTM Chrissy Teigen I shared a few days ago.
Sriracha Caesar with homemade croutons was good, but my favorite kicked up version was a Harissa Caesar tweak today – with parmesan-crusted croutons from homemade quinoa bread. Really good!

Ages ago we had a very large dog named Judas Priest, and he loved tuna oil, which we drained over his kibble. Once, as we were carrying his tuna doused kibble to place it on the floor, he bounced into the carrier, hard, and tuna soaked kibble landed on his back. He was mightily pissed. After lunch we took him to his favorite park to wash off and to get drunk eating the fall blackberries that rimmed the creek. I miss Judas and Oregon.

Our cats have always loved tuna ‘juice’; either in oil or water, they love it. Sardine oil, too.
Honeycrisp apple, green onion, celery and lettuce, with olive oil, rosé vinegar, a squeeze of lemon, black pepper, and a pinch of sugar

Bibb, radicchio, sunny crisp, radishes, avocado, Campari tomatoes celery with buttermilk ranch. I had to get a few more forks from the leftover container post-dinner.
